Loch Fyne, Scotland

No 1 Combined Operations Training Centre
Number 1 CombinedTrainingCenter was a military establishment for amphibious landing craft techniques training during World War II.
Nestled away in the highlands of Scotland on the shores of Loch Fyne, HMS Quebec provided training for military operations and the thousands of soldiers, sailors and airmen who passed through the center.

Inveraray, built in the seventeen hundreds, is the small highland town that became associated with the training center. It remains today the same as during the war years when Dorothy was posted there, and as it was when first built all those years ago.
I came across Inveraray and HMS Quebec while researching and developing the story of Dog Dirt Doris and decided it would be an excellent place from which to launch Dorothy into the war.
